Rory is a lyric baritone based in Oslo, Norway, where he is a member of the Opera Studio of the Norwegian National Opera. He has recently sung at houses including the the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater and the Brandenburger Theater.

This season he will sing Papageno in Barry Kosky's The Magic Flute, Tarquinius in a new production  of The Rape of Lucretia, Robert Baker in Bernstein's Wonderful Town, Fiorello in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Sciarrone​ in Calixto Bieito's Tosca, as well as singing in an orchestral concert with Edward Gardner and the orchestra of the Norwegian National Opera. 

He is a prizewinner at numerous competitions, including the International Cesti Competition, the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang and the Felix Mendelssohn Competition.

Rory sung in the world premieres of Peter Eötvös' Sleepless at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, German Alonso's Lovelease at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Daniel Behle's Hopfen und Malz at the Brandenburger Theater.

 

As a recitalist he has performed with pianists including Jonathan Ware and Andrea Baiocchi and gave his recital debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus in January 2024 and will give a Lied Recital this Autumn with pianist John Lidal.

Rory has worked with conductors including Edward Gardner, Robin Ticciati, Marie Jacquot, Peter Eötvös, Maxime Pascal​, Paulo Arrivabeni and Oksana Lyniv.

Rory is represented by Aliopera Artist Management.
