Rory is a british-Irish baritone based in Oslo, Norway, where he is a member of the Opera Studio of the Norwegian National Opera. He has recently sung at houses including the the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater and the Brandenburger Theater.
This season he will sing Marquese in Verdi's La Traviata, Sciarrone in Puccini's Tosca and Guiglielmo in Mozart's Cosí fan tutte at the Norwegian National Opera.
He is a prizewinner at numerous competitions, including the International Cesti Competition, the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang and the Felix Mendelssohn Competition.
Rory has sung in the world premieres of Peter Eötvös' Sleepless at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, German Alonso's Lovelease at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Daniel Behle's Hopfen und Malz at the Brandenburger Theater. He also jumped into a production of Luigi Nono's Io, Frammento Da Prometeo at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater.
As a recitalist he has performed with pianists including Jonathan Ware and Andrea Baiocchi and gave his recital debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus in January 2024.
In 2020, he sang the role of Junius in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester conducted by Robin Ticciati.
